Another World

Another World (known as Out of this World in the US and Outer World in Japan) is a cinematic platformer designed and developed by Eric Chahi, and produced and distributed by Delphine Software.

Developed on an Amiga 500 for the Amiga, Atari ST, and MS-DOS platforms, the game was widely ported to other contemporary systems. Recent efforts have resulted in several game engine recreations for the game that have also permitted it to be run on modern computers, consoles and mobile phones.

Originally released in 1991 Another World, soon became considered a classic. The 2D vector graphics sparked the imagination of a generation of young gamers and still holds a special place in many players’ hearts.

The choice to use vector graphics, (considered very stylistic and avant-garde at the time), has proven its worth in the 2006 (Collector’s Edition) re-issue, with the original animations recalculated into a higher resolution and bundled together with enhanced backgrounds.

Two days ago I (lastly) added to my dvd collection “Vampiros en La Habana”, an animated cartoon directed by Juan Padron on 1985.The film involves a vampire scientist, the Professor von Dracula, who lives in Cuba, where he invents a formula that allows vampires to walk under the sunlight; the Professor wants to donate it’s potion for free to vampires all over the world, but the European group of Vampires (from Dusseldorf) and the Vampire Mafia (from Chicago) try to steal the formula and monopolize the “Vampisun”.
